About Us

The Shopping Centres Association of Kenya is the leading council for the shopping centre industry in East Africa. It aspires to be an all inclusive body of stakeholders in the shopping centre value chain with a key purpose of driving excellence and resource efficiency.
The Association focuses on promoting professional industry networking, human resource capacity building, commissioning value added research and engaging organisations to drive the interests of the industry.
At present formal retail accounts for 30% of the retail market in Kenya, contributing to KSh. 440 billion to GDP and employing nearly 220k people. This contribution will rise significantly as formal shopping floor space is set to double in the coming years. According to a recent report by Knight Frank, there is an additional 470,000 sq. metres of planned shopping floor space in the pipeline, making Kenya the largest shopping centre market in Sub Saharan Africa excluding South Africa.
With over 100 shopping centres spread across the country, it is imminent that this industry be recognised and developed to support the projected growth through a defined association such as SCAK.
